About the Role
In this role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within a health centre setting, supporting the diverse mental health needs of military members. Referrals will come from various sources, offering diversity in presentations and support requests. Your role will involve initial intake and assessment, with flexibility to accommodate presenting needs. You will have autonomy to manage your caseload, including oversight and case management of externally referred cases and the provision of internal treatment to Defence members. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing crisis presentations, risk assessment, and risk management planning within a multi-disciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive mental health assessments and deliver evidence-based treatments.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support the mental health needs of Defence members.
  • Manage caseloads, including externally referred cases and internal treatment.
  • Develop and implement risk management plans for crisis presentations.
  • Participate in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities to maintain registration and stay up-to-date with best practices.

About Lavarack
Lavarack Health Centre is located in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks, providing primary medical, surgical outpatient, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical care to Defence members. The centre operates 24/7, with standard operating hours ranging from Monday to Friday depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend shifts.
