Health Information Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Health Information Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for collecting and managing patient data in accordance with hospital and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of patient data by following up on missing information and clarifying ambiguous documentation.
  • Liaise with clinical staff to obtain necessary information for data collection and management.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with coding standards and best practices.

You will also be responsible for maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive data with care. This may include processing confidential information for billing, research, statistical analysis, and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements:
  • A degree or certification in health information management or a related field.
  • Experience in abstracting and coding data from medical records.
  • Solid understanding of ICD-10-AM 13th edition and local coding standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
