Secure Digital Environment Specialist

Join our organization and contribute to ensuring a secure digital environment for the people of NSW. We are looking for an experienced Cyber Security Analyst to join our Operational & Advisory Team in Sydney on a two-year contract.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with strong organizational and analytical skills to coordinate and support cyber security initiatives and commitments. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical expertise and knowledge of current and emerging cyber security risks and trends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute technical expertise and knowledge to report on current and emerging cyber security risks and trends.
• Support the development of best practice, technical cyber security advice within relevant strategies, programs, and policies across the NSW Government.
• Conduct research, planning, and product development using a risk-based approach to create guidance that proactively supports NSW departments, agencies, and local councils in building cyber resilience.
• Identify, interpret, and analyse data using linking and statistical techniques to identify trends and patterns in data sets, and create inferences or insights.
• Produce reports, briefings, visualizations, and recommendations to advise Senior Leaders on supporting cyber security initiatives and service delivery.

About Our Team

The Cyber Security NSW team is responsible for ensuring a cyber safe NSW. We protect our systems and digital information because of the many essential services we provide, including health, emergency services, and transport.

We are working across NSW Government to:

• Create a whole-of-government integrated approach to managing cyber risk and responding to cyber security threats.
• Increase cyber skills and awareness.
• Understand the risks from cyber threats to our digital information and systems.
• Set cyber security standards.
• Evaluate our preparedness if a damaging cyber incident occurs.

About You (Essential Requirements)

• You will be reliable, flexible, and have a positive work ethic.
• You enjoy contributing ideas and working in multidisciplinary teams.
• You proactively manage your own workload and tasks.
• You have excellent organizational skills and experience in managing multiple small projects.
• You demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, including being able to communicate technical and/or strategic policy issues and advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
• You are adept at building and maintaining stakeholder relationships and presenting insights for strategic decision-making.
• You have experience in research and proficiency with analysis tools like SPSS, Advanced Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
• You possess data visualization skills for creating interactive dashboards and reports.
• You have experience with Jira and Confluence administration and Salesforce CRM.
• You have experience of undertaking basic risk management activities.
• You hold appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience in cyber security, information security, risk management, digital, or ICT.
• You have previous public sector experience.
• You are an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline National Security Clearance and pass a police check.
