Environmental Health Specialist

We are seeking an Environmental Health Specialist to join our team in providing expert support and guidance in the delivery of environmental health services.

  • About the Role

This role involves conducting audits of on-site sewage management systems, assessing their performance, and identifying potential risks to public health and the environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert advice and guidance on environmental health matters;
  • Conducting site visits to inspect on-site sewage management systems and assess their performance;
  • Identifying potential risks to public health and the environment and developing strategies to mitigate them;
  • Liaising with stakeholders, including local communities, industry representatives, and government agencies;
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations;
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports of inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an environmental health/science related field;
  • Demonstrated experience in an environmental health related role with working knowledge of modern systems of on-site sewage management;
  • Demonstrated ability to establish good rapport with various community sectors and deal with customers and community representatives;
  • High-level communication skills for preparing environmental health reports and submissions.
