About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Coles Group. As a key member of our operations team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our team members and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and manage the overall safety performance of our Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) and associated Spoke network.
  2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective risk management.
  3. Work closely with CFC operations teams and key stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks.
  4. Represent Coles Group at state regulatory and industry body meetings as required.
  5. Provide clear and accurate reporting insights and frameworks to leadership teams.
  6. Evaluate business risk reduction plans to ensure effectiveness in managing risk.
  7. Demonstrate due diligence in meeting legislative responsibilities for safe product storage, handling, and distribution.
  8. Implement and lead safety and wellbeing initiatives from our National Safety Plan.
  9. Support the development, deployment, and embedding of future safety direction and tactical initiatives for the CFC and Spokes network.
Requirements
  1. Sound knowledge, skill, and experience in health and safety, critical risk reduction, traffic management, and transport safety.
  2. Minimum 3 years working in an operational FMCG distribution centre, manufacturing, or automated environment highly desirable.
  3. Proven record of achieving results and leading change within a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  4. Clear demonstration of ability to incorporate safety requirements while considering commercially viable and practical solutions.
  5. Proven record of providing technical expertise and coaching at all levels.
  6. Minimum qualification – Cert IV in Health and Safety or related discipline.
  7. Strong stakeholder management and relationship building capabilities with internal and external parties.
  8. Effective communication and influencing skills, with strong attention to detail.
  9. Competency in safety reporting and evaluating compliance, to then transform insights into frontline safety initiatives to address risk.
