Fibre Design Consultant

As a fibre design expert, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the high-quality standards and technical expertise expected by clients.

The role involves supervising and motivating a team responsible for surveying and planning of new fibre networks to precise client specifications, time scales & budgets.

  • Ensure that all network planning works are delivered to client specifications, in agreed timeframes and within budget.
  • Liaise with field teams to ensure a smooth build phase of works.
  • Assist the Planning Manager with coaching/mentoring of junior and trainee planners.
  • In the Planning Managers absence, supervise the departments time and resources to ensure a swift and high-quality delivery of works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising a team, surveying and planning both fibre to the premise (FTTP) and Core Fibreoptic Networks & CATV (HFC) access networks.
  • Providing first-line management to your team, allocating duties and monitoring their progress.
  • Regularly reviewing industry standards for all relevant network technologies to ensure that planned proposals are technically proficient and meet health & safety requirements for the teams responsible for build implementation.
  • Effectively planning and implementing solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Ensuring your team is proficient and comfortable with the use of digital planning tools.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience working in a Network Planning environment, with a background in HFC / Fibreoptic / telephony network planning.
  • Knowledge of Broadband Networks, Fibreoptic GPON Networks, and Digital TV Technology.
  • Understanding of Fibreoptic and CATV Hybrid Fibre/Coax network architecture.
