Rigging Artist Position Overview

Flying Bark Productions is working on exciting projects, including the Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film and Netflix's Stranger Things animated series.

We are seeking a skilled Rigging Artist to join our Sydney studio team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

About the Role:

  • Create, revise, maintain and support required rigged assets, responding to guidance and review notes from directors and creative/technical supervisors.
  • Ensure rigged assets meet standards and specifications regarding appearance, aesthetics, user interface, performance, robustness & technical benchmarks.

About You:

  • 5+ years of VFX/animation work experience.
  • A thorough understanding of controls and deformation.
  • Oversight of characters, set pieces and props rigging through the animation pipeline.
  • Support and troubleshoot for users (other Technical Directors and Animators) who utilize rigged assets.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Maya, and good knowledge of Python and MEL.
  • Ability to develop techniques and processes to solve rigging production challenges.
