We are seeking a visionary leader to set the strategy for technology development at the Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF). As the Chief Technologist, you will oversee a portfolio of future-focused technology development projects and lead the interface with the global astronomy community on the development of future instrumentation for radio astronomy.

About You

We are looking for a strategic, innovative, and collaborative leader with a PhD in radio science and technology. You should have a track record in identifying and adopting nascent technologies to advance radio science and technology, as well as experience in applying strategic thinking to set the direction of an R&D organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set the strategy for technology development at the ATNF
  • Oversee a portfolio of future-focused technology development projects
  • Lead the interface with the global astronomy community on the development of future instrumentation for radio astronomy
  • Mentor and coach others to inspire performance

The ATNF is a world-class radio astronomy facility with over 350 staff. We operate several radio astronomy observatories and data archives, and we are committed to advancing our understanding of the universe through cutting-edge technology and research.
