Primary Care Physician

The Victoria Primary Care Network is seeking applicants to join the region in providing primary care services to underserved populations. We seek Family Practitioners with experience working with Refugees/Newcomers to Canada.
The position involves providing full service primary care for patients from the federal newcomers to Canada program who need stabilization prior to transfer to a regular primary care provider, including federally-mandated Health Assessments. The practice will serve children, adolescents and adults, including immigrants and refugees from Syria, Africa, Greece, Lebanon and Egypt. Translation services are available.
Collaboration with other healthcare professionals is essential. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of Nursing, Nurse Practitioners, and Allied Health Professionals to provide culturally-safe care. This includes knowledge of trauma-informed practice, which is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide primary care services to underserved populations
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide culturally-safe care
- Work closely with the Island Health Refugee/Newcomer NP at the Health Care on Yates Clinic
Requirements:
- Dedicated and hard-working Family Practitioner with experience working with Refugees/Newcomers to Canada
- Able to work as part of a team with Nursing, Nurse Practitioners, and Allied Health Professionals
- Shared philosophy of trauma-informed, culturally-safe care essential
