We are seeking expressions of interest from motivated individuals to commence or continue a Metal Fabrication Specialist Apprenticeship in Newcastle, the Hunter, or Upper Hunter areas.

This 4-year apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified tradesperson in the metal fabrication field, earning your MEM30319 Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking/Welding) qualification.

About the Role

As a Metal Fabrication Specialist Apprentice, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Grinding, welding, and utilising thermal cutting equipment to assemble, repair, and construct various metal or steel products
  • Employing fabrication techniques and operating hand tools and electrical equipment
  • Maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment while adhering to policies and procedures focused on workplace health and safety
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A passion for welding and metalwork or enjoy hands-on building and creating projects
  • Completed year 10 with a good understanding of maths, as you'll be reviewing and working to drawings
  • Excellent listening skills, ability to follow instructions, and a keen desire to develop new skills
  • A positive, committed attitude and strong communication skills
  • Be punctual, reliable, and enthusiastic about the fabrication trade
  • Be safety conscious and always follow PPE guidelines
  • The ability to pass a Medical, Drug, and Alcohol Screen, as well as a Police Check

  • A chance to access Government support payments of up to $5000 over two years, paid in six monthly instalments

Salary: Estimated AU$55,000 - AU$65,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
