About MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees

We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals to commence or continue a Boilermaker Apprenticeship in the Newcastle, Hunter, or Upper Hunter areas.

Job Description

This four-year apprenticeship will involve a range of responsibilities including grinding, welding, utilising thermal cutting equipment, and employing fabrication techniques to assemble, repair, and construct various metal or steel products. You will also utilise both hand tools and electrical equipment, assist in maintaining a clean and organised workshop, while adhering to all policies and procedures with a primary focus on workplace health and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grinding, welding, and using thermal cutting equipment to fabricate metal products
  • Employing fabrication techniques to assemble, repair, and construct metal or steel products
  • Maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment
  • Following policies and procedures to ensure workplace health and safety
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A minimum of year 10 education with a good understanding of maths as you'll be reviewing and working to drawings
  • A flair for welding and metalwork or enjoy hands-on building and creating projects
  • Excellent listening skills, able to follow instructions, and keen to develop new skills
  • Positive, committed attitude and good communication skills
  • Punctuality, reliability, and enthusiasm about the fabrication trade
  • Safety conscious and always follow PPE guidelines
  • Ability to pass a Medical, Drug, and Alcohol Screen and Police Check
