Job Description:

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to lead our team in building and maintaining large-scale, fault-tolerant systems. As a Staff Cloud Engineer at Royal Bank of Canada, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and maximum uptime of our internal Cloud Platform.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software and systems engineering, with experience in developing scalable systems using automation best practices. You will also have expertise in cloud computing architecture, migrations, and platform management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable systems using automation best practices
  • Support services before they go live through system design consulting, software development, planning, and reviews
  • Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health
  • Provide mentorship and training to other team members on technologies and processes
  • Drive high standards around incident response practices and policies

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in an Operational role: DevOps, SRE, or Software Engineering, Cloud Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience doing development in any of Java, NodeJS, .NET Core, Python
  • Experience with cloud computing architecture, migrations, and platform management
  • Strong background in software and systems engineering
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
