Job Description

This position is critical to the efficient and safe execution of daily and weekly mine plans, aligning with medium and long-term strategies.

  • The ideal candidate will actively participate in promoting site safety, environmental, health, and quality of mining activities.
  • We are seeking a highly skilled professional to develop and maintain short-term (daily to weekly) Load & Haul schedules to meet production targets.
  • The selected candidate will design and optimize haul roads, dump locations, and loading areas using mine planning software.
  • This role requires collaboration with operations, drill & blast, and geology teams to ensure alignment of plans and execution.
  • The Mining Operations Specialist will monitor and adjust schedules based on operational feedback, equipment availability, and changing conditions.
  • This position involves conducting regular pit inspections to validate designs and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • The successful candidate will provide technical support to supervisors and operators regarding plan implementation and design intent.
  • This role contributes to continuous improvement initiatives in mine planning and operational efficiency.

This is a Monday to Friday roster with one rostered day off per month and offers opportunities for a residential lifestyle.

Requirements

A degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent is required.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are essential.
  • Experience with Mine planning and Design software is necessary, exposure to Vulcan would be well regarded.
  • Experience in open-cut mining operations within the coal industry is preferred, experience outside of coal will be considered.
  • A strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement is vital.
