About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Systems Engineer to join our team at The MITRE Corporation. As a key member of our digital transformation team, you will be responsible for leading the implementation and adoption of Digital Engineering (DE) and Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) practices and tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead MITRE teams in implementing and adopting DE and MBSE practices and tools.
  • Direct the development of systems engineering models to enable informed decision-making for government customers.
  • Oversee analysis of current government implementations of DE/MBSE efforts and identify improvements in digital engineering adoption, execution, and sustainment.
  • Apply strategic systems engineering, model-based engineering, and digital engineering methods to solve current and emerging digital engineering challenges.
  • Provide thought leadership to further mature and develop revolutionary digital engineering solutions consisting of people, process, and tools.
Requirements
  • Australian citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or relevant technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 4 years and a Master's degree; or a Ph.D. with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise systems thinking, knowledge of systems architecture and systems design and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute technical work in complex, multi-disciplinary and ambiguous situations.
  • Basic computer programming skills.
  • Eligible for Australian Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance.
  • Strong written, communication, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or relevant technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of Mission Engineering, Analysis of Alternatives, Verification and Validation, Design of Experiments, simulation design and/or data analytics.
  • In-depth experience designing, developing, and deploying complex government systems.
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary modelling and simulation (physics-level, engineering-level and operational-level) and working across an enterprise at multiple levels of abstraction.
  • Understanding and demonstrated application of modern systems engineering and systems of systems engineering methods, including proficiency with Sys ML or other modeling languages.
  • Experience using modern model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., CATIA, Magic Draw, DOORS, Rhapsody).
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
  • Eligible for Australian Positive Vetting (PV) clearance.
