We are seeking a skilled Animal Behaviour Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in reward-based training and a passion for animal welfare.

About the Role

The Behaviour department provides training and support for staff and volunteers across the state, focusing on improved animal outcomes through behaviour assessment and modification. Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting low-stress animal handling practices to reduce fear, anxiety and stress wherever possible.
  • Supporting staff, volunteers and members of the public by providing theoretical and practical learning opportunities.
  • Implementing and carrying out behaviour management and modification plans.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and time management skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, including good conflict resolution skills.

They will also have excellent animal handling skills (felines and canines) and a high attention to detail.
