Learning Disability Support Advisor Role

Chisholm seeks an experienced Learning Disability Support Advisor. This fixed-term position is to backfill parental leave until July 2026.

The Learning Disability Support Advisor ensures students with disabilities, long-term illnesses, and/or mental health conditions are actively included in all aspects of Chisholm life.

This role provides direct support to students and primary caregivers through appointments, class talks, presentations, workshops, resource creation, and support for educators to meet student needs.

  • Act as a thought leader and specialist problem solver to support delivery departments and improve the student experience.
  • Mentor, coach, monitor, and support team members to apply best practice methods and support students with disabilities.
  • Provide advice and guidance on disability-related queries and potential impacts on study.
  • Liaise with staff to ensure reasonable adjustments are implemented in line with the Disability Standards for Education.
  • Assist students with disabilities and primary carers by recommending Reasonable Adjustments, including Equitable Assessment Arrangements.
  • Coordinate targeted social connection groups, fostering belonging and inclusive community engagement.
  • Provide teaching areas with informal professional development and suggest strategies to enhance Chisholm's capacity to respond ethically to learning needs.

About You:

  • Extensive experience in equity and diversity, including relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge of anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation, particularly for people with disabilities.
  • Well-developed communication and liaison skills for supporting students with disabilities.
  • An understanding of policy and legislative settings for providing support to students with disabilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A post-secondary qualification, degree, or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline with subsequent relevant experience.
