Ramp Up Production Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and mitigate manufacturing and quality issues at suppliers to ensure the integrity of the Starship program.
  • Determine ideal manufacturing methods, identify reliable suppliers, and develop processes for ramping up production to meet aggressive takt times.
  • Conduct design for manufacturing reviews to guarantee manufacturability of parts early in the development stages.
  • Find and vet exceptional suppliers for quality and their ability to meet demanding timelines.

This role requires practical experience in manufacturing engineering and new product development through to stabilized production for fabrication processes used in rockets and rocket engines.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years of experience with manufacturing and/or inspection of mechanical products in a production environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Fundamental understanding of propulsion/fluid systems and component manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with machining and ancillary operations like milling, turning, and tube cutting.
  • General familiarity with welding (TIG, MIG, orbital tube welding) of stainless and carbon steels.
  • Knowledge of supplier quality processes, statistical techniques, and quality systems.
