As a Previs Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic, you will be responsible for collaborating closely with Directors, VFX Supervisors, and other key creative leadership to design and deliver sequences that meet their vision through dynamic camera movement, animation, composition, staging, lighting, and editing across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Work closely with the Producer and Production Management team to bid and deliver previs on time and on budget across all projects.
- Partner with Talent Management to mentor, train, and support Previs Artists on the team; motivate and provide feedback to Artists; understand how to develop Artists' abilities; set goals and deadlines for the team.
- Build a Previs team in Sydney, working with recruitment to help grow your team.
- Develop and maintain a high-performing Previs team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to deliver high-quality work.
- Collaborate with technology and CG departments to streamline workflow and pipeline.
- Troubleshoot assets and shots, continually looking for and suggesting improvements to increase overall efficiency and productivity.
- Maintain or exceed consistent levels of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work.
- Demonstrate flexibility with iterative processes.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Visualization, or a Computer Animation required.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in visual effects film.
- 7+ years of experience in visual effects film.
- Extensive experience in visual effects for film, including recent management experience.
- Experience in animation, previs, and/or layout.
- Well-versed in film grammar, composition, and editorial decisions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Linux and Maya.
- A reel demonstrating strong creative and technical ability in photo-realistic 3D with a focus on animation, previs, or layout; basic competency in modeling, texturing, lighting, camera, layout, compositing, and rendering.
- Nice to have: basic knowledge of Nuke, Mari, Arnold, V-Ray, Zbrush, and Photoshop.
