The role of Public Trustee and Guardian is a senior executive position within the Office.

The Office consists of approximately 64 specialist personnel. The Trustee functions include preparation of wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney, administration of deceased estates and trusts, and acting as Manager appointed by the ACAT on behalf of clients.

The Guardian functions of the Office include acting as Guardian appointed by ACAT and attorney under EPOA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the administrative and financial affairs of the Office.
  • Preparation of wills, administration of deceased estates, trusts, and management of financial affairs of persons under order of ACAT and under EPOA.
  • Directing and managing the functions of Guardian.
  • Reviewing and refining decision-making principles applicable to EPOA, Managers, and Guardians.
  • Raising awareness in the community about estate planning, including developing and undertaking presentations and information seminars.
  • Developing investment strategies to provide optimal rates of return on investments within a prudent framework.
  • Participating in national and ACT forums, providing comment, submissions, and contributing to policy development.

The successful applicant will be employed under the relevant legislation.

The position requires strong leadership skills, financial expertise, and excellent communication abilities.
