Job Title: Casualty Risk Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Casualty Risk Engineer to join our team at XL CATLIN. As a Casualty Risk Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical analysis and risk improvement consultation to our large commercial customers in the construction, mining, and energy sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Analysis: Provide underwriters with desktop assessments on general and product liability risks/exposures, with a focus on construction and mining related accounts, to ensure consistent and satisfactory risk selection and client retention.
- Client Relationships: Accompany underwriters or client development leaders to client and broker meetings to develop effective and efficient relationships, to understand their needs and identify new and/or emerging risks.
- Account Management: Build and maintain relationships with designated accounts/companies of the underwriting units.
- On-Site Visits: Conduct on-site visits of existing and prospective customers and complete comprehensive reports that evaluate hazards and controls for adequate risk selection, pricing, and application of underwriting techniques leading to profitable growth.
- Support and Collaboration: Support underwriters as well as client development leaders during the acquisition phase to demonstrate XL CATLIN's technical risk assessment abilities.
- Claims Support: Support the claims department on technical issues.
- Research and Development: Conduct research into relevant industry topics and present findings through written reports or presentations.
- Industry Expertise: Demonstrate industry and insurance knowledge within dedicated practice groups.
Product and Product Development Support:
- Industry Expertise: Develop an industry-specific expert knowledge in the defined segment.
- Market Promotion: Enhance Casualty Risk Engineer's visibility in the market through participation in broker market events and seminars, to promote our capabilities and of the wider XL CATLIN enterprise.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Degree, preferably postgraduate, qualification in construction/civil engineering or process engineering or mechanical engineering and/or environmental engineering.
- Business Experience: Business experience in the construction, mining, and/or energy or risk consulting industries.
- Industry Knowledge: Industry knowledge and experience of risk assessment processes and tools e.g. HAZOP, FMEA etc.
- Communication Skills: Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Responsiveness: Responsiveness and service commitment - both internally and externally.
Additional Requirements:
- Health and Safety: Knowledge of health & safety principles and related legislation in Australia.
- Data Analytics: Data analytics and modelling experience.
- Presentation Skills: Experience of presenting technical industry insights to internal and external customer bases.
