About the Role

The APS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contract Manager EL 1 to join our team. As a key member of our Program Management Team, you will be responsible for managing complex contracts and providing commercial expertise to support Defence's mission and policy requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer contracts, including drafting and negotiating agreements
  • Provide commercial advice and support to Defence stakeholders
  • Develop and implement work plans, set performance indicators, and review process and business performance
  • Build and maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures relevant to contract management

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a commercial environment with contractual mechanisms
  • Strong knowledge of Defence/Government Procurement policies and procedures
  • Ability to understand, analyse, and identify solutions to complex contracts and commercial queries
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

About Our Team:

The Destroyer, Guided System Program Office (DDG SPO) is part of the Major Surface Ships Branch (MSS) within Maritime Sustainment Division (MSD) and the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG). We lead the Destroyer Enterprise in sustaining the Hobart Class DDGs: HMAS Hobart (III), HMAS Brisbane (III) and HMAS Sydney (V).
