Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and empathetic individual to join our team as a Peer Support Worker. As a member of our dynamic team, you will provide wellbeing support to students in a low-barrier non-clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage and support students as a Peer Supporter for The Living Room
  • Provide increased opportunities for meaningful, accessible, responsive, evidence-based and research-driven support to students
  • Deliver consistent, transparent and high-quality confidential support to a diverse community of students

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work within and contribute to the vision, core values and principles of The Living Room
  • Strong emotional resilience to handle challenging and sensitive situations along with verbal interpersonal communication and listening skills, showing empathy, compassion and patience
  • Relevant experience in peer support work or experience identifying signs of distress or risk and responding appropriately, including the use of de-escalation techniques (desirable)
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, purpose-driven team ensuring reliability and consistency of performance
  • Current UWA student with at least one semester of study attained

Benefits:

  • Casual roles with around 10 hours per week or 20 per fortnight (reduced requirement during semester break)
  • Base salary range: $33.03-$35.69/hr +25% casual loading +Super
