Job Title: Orchard Assistant

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Orchard Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for various tasks within the almond farm environment, including machinery operation, irrigation, general farm hand duties, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machinery operation: You will be responsible for operating various machines, including tractors and equipment, to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • Irrigation tasks: You will assist in maintaining the orchard's water supply system, ensuring optimal watering schedules and procedures.
  • General farm hand duties: You will perform various tasks, such as pruning, spraying, and cleaning, to maintain the orchard's overall health and productivity.
  • Maintenance: You will be responsible for performing basic non-trades maintenance on equipment, including tools and machinery.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Physical fitness: You must be able to lift heavy loads and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills: You will need to communicate effectively with your colleagues and supervisors.
  • No asthma or dust allergies: This is essential for working in a dusty environment.
  • Able to follow instructions: You will need to follow safety protocols and instructions from supervisors.

Benefits

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $27.89 per hour, paid under the Horticulture Award 2020, with a minimum of 38 hours of work per week. We also offer opportunities for upskilling and career progression.
