General Practitioner Medical Officer Position

Job Description:

The position of General Practitioner Medical Officer is a critical role in the delivery of high-quality patient care at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital.

As a key member of the hospital's medical team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellence in clinical care to every patient, every time. They will promote seamless continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring optimal medical care to the patients of Armidale Rural Referral Hospital.

  • A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Australian College of Rural Remote Medicine and/or overseas trained specialist pathways, or nearing completion of Fellowship.
  • Recent and comprehensive experience in General Practice, demonstrating expertise in delivering quality medical care.
  • Completion or currently undertaking an Emergency Life Support course and skill/experience in Emergency Medicine.
  • Maintenance of medical professional development, ability to assist other staff, including trainees in the acquisition and development of knowledge.
  • Skilled communicator, both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public.
  • Collaborator, networking and operating within an interdisciplinary framework and working with other stakeholders in a variety of settings.
  • Manager, flexibility and coping with a changing health system, past leadership and management experience and previous safety and quality improvement activities.
  • Professional, continued professional development, peer review and other forms of clinical governance.
  • Advocate, contributions to improving individual and societal health.
