Senior Mental Health Policy Specialist

The Department plays a vital role in the Victorian health system, shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians.
This is an opportunity to lead a team responsible for overseeing mental health and wellbeing policy challenges, including intergovernmental relations, responses to emerging issues, and strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing strategic policy positions and briefing products for ministerial forums in the mental health portfolio.
- Effectively supervising a team by leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential, modelling good people management practices, and building positive relationships with peers and stakeholders.
- Providing high-quality strategic policy advice to senior management and government based on comprehensive research and analysis.
- Fostering connections across the department and with stakeholders to share information and facilitate partnership approaches.
Requirements:
- A tertiary qualification in public policy, administration, or health would be desirable. Alternatively, a suitable applicant will have equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development, implementation, and evaluation, particularly in mental health and wellbeing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and the community.
