Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Chief Database Architect and Operations Specialist to join our organization on a long-term contract basis.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust database infrastructure to ensure data integrity and compliance with established standards.
  • Develop and manage data management processes, including initial loading, creation, maintenance, and distribution of data.
  • Identify and implement corrective actions to enhance database performance and availability.
  • Create operational backup, archival, and recovery plans, as well as conduct cyclical disaster recovery exercises.
  • Evaluate and escalate unresolved system issues to relevant vendors or stakeholders, ensuring timely resolution in accordance with agreed service level agreements.
  • Enhance data capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning to boost performance, engagement, and retention.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of Mainframe Db2 Database Administration experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in upgrading DB2 to V13.
  • Demonstrated experience in migrating ObjectStar Table data store to DB2 on Z/oS.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designing, maintaining, and optimizing DB2 databases.
  • Experience with monitoring and diagnostics using Omegamon and query monitor.
  • Familiarity with rolling out maintenance for Db2 across mainframe systems.
  • Understanding of z/OS interfaces (ISPF, REXX, JCL etc.).
  • Knowledge of z/OS software installation methodologies (SMP/E etc.).
  • Demonstrated expertise with IBM Db2 tools (Recovery expert, clone tool etc.).
  • Australian citizenship and NV1 Security Clearance.
