In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining Oracle and DB2 databases in both Unix and Windows environments. You will handle tasks such as user management, file system management, scripting, schema design, query optimization, and indexing to ensure data integrity. Additionally, you will implement replication, along with database backup and recovery strategies, and perform administration, monitoring, management, and tuning of these mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, install, configure, and monitor DB2 and Oracle databases to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Optimise database performance through effective query tuning, indexing, and configuration to meet business requirements.

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using JavaScript, Python, and PowerShell to streamline database operations.

  • Implement robust database security protocols and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards.

  • Design and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies, along with clear and detailed technical documentation.

About You

You're a capable and detail-focused professional with strong problem-solving and communication skills. You work well both independently and in a team, and you're committed to ongoing learning and development. Your expertise covers database management, scripting, schema design, query optimisation, indexing, data integrity, replication, backup and recovery, along with the administration, monitoring, and tuning of database systems.

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) & IBM Certified Database Associate (or equivalent DB2) certification.

  • Experience with administering Oracle and DB2 databases in enterprise environments.

  • Proficiency in automation scripting (JavaScript, Python, PowerShell).

  • Familiarity with both Unix and Windows server environments.

  • ITIL Foundation Certification and experience delivering midrange services at scale.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen, hold a Baseline level security clearance.

At Leidos, we don't want someone who "fits the mold"—we want someone who melts it down and builds something better. This is a role for the restless, the over-caffeinated, the ones who ask, "what's next?" before the dust settles on "what's now."
