Materials Planner Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Materials Planner to take charge of inventory planning and procurement using business tools, systems, and processes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing and importing functions such as issuing purchase orders on vendors and associated companies.
  • Determining the most economical material source and shipping method.
  • Arranging all necessary shipping documentation and expediting purchase orders where required.
  • Scheduling, rescheduling or cancelling purchase orders as usage warrants, to maintain optimum stock levels to meet business requirements and maximize inventory turnover.
  • Reviewing all shipping documentation to ensure it complies with purchase orders and working closely with logistics providers to ensure optimum transit times of inventory.
  • Monitoring and identifying component shortages.
  • Following up on purchase orders to ensure shipments meet planned requirements.
  • Assisting in developing inventory levels by providing analytical analysis.
  • Coordinating the issuing of purchase orders for indent products to ensure product availability to meet customer requirements while avoiding premium freight requirements.
  • Improving business processes and implementing initiatives to drive operational improvements, optimize inventory levels and deliver cost reduction.
  • Working closely with logistics providers and participating in warehouse stocktake processes.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years in Material Planning and Procurement.
  • Collaborating and communicating effectively with cross-functional team members.
  • Desire to perform data analysis to identify issues and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Exposure to MFG-Pro or SAP would be an advantage.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Representing the organization in a professional, helpful, courteous manner, displaying a 'Can Do' attitude to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Flexibility and ability to deal with change.
  • Able to work under pressure with a positive attitude.
