Key Mechanical Assembly Role

We are seeking a skilled mechanical professional to join our team at a leading manufacturer of truck-mounted elevated work platforms (EWPs).

The successful candidate will be responsible for the fitting, assembly, and maintenance of components, ensuring high precision and quality standards.

A strong mechanical background, attention to detail, and ability to work with precision in a fast-paced environment are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assemble, fit, and maintain mechanical components and systems for EWPs, adhering to strict tolerances and quality control measures.
  2. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure precise assembly and fitment of parts.
  3. Operate lathes, milling machines, and other machinery to fabricate parts with tight tolerances, enhancing overall equipment performance.
  4. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on EWPs, ensuring equipment reliability and longevity.
  5. Diagnose faults and malfunctions in mechanical systems, determining appropriate repair solutions and minimizing downtime.
  6. Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot and improve mechanical designs, driving innovation and efficiency.
  7. Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with industry safety standards and manufacturer specifications, maintaining a safe working environment.
  8. Keep detailed records of work completed, parts used, and maintenance activities, supporting informed decision-making and operational planning.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations and company policies.
Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Proven experience as a mechanical assembler or fitter and turner, preferably with experience in heavy machinery or EWP manufacturing.
  2. Proficiency in operating lathes, milling machines, and other precision machining tools, with a strong understanding of mechanical principles and concepts.
  3. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
  4. Trade certification in mechanical engineering or a related field is highly desirable, demonstrating expertise and commitment to the profession.
  5. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  6. Physical stamina and dexterity to handle heavy equipment and work in various conditions, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
