Key Mechanical Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Key Mechanical Technician to join our mechanical team. As a key member, you will be responsible for the fitting, assembly, and maintenance of components for truck-mounted elevated work platforms (EWPs).

Responsibilities
  1. Assemble, fit, and maintain mechanical components and systems for truck-mounted EWPs.
  2. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure precise assembly and fitment of parts.
  3. Operate lathes, milling machines, and other machinery to fabricate parts with tight tolerances.
  4. Perform maintenance, adjustments, and repairs on mechanical systems, ensuring they meet operational and safety standards.
  5. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on EWPs to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
  6. Diagnose faults and malfunctions in mechanical systems, determining appropriate repair solutions.
  7. Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot and improve mechanical designs.
  8. Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with industry safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  9. Keep detailed records of work completed, parts used, and maintenance activities.
  10. Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all health and safety regulations.
Requirements
  1. Proven experience as a Fitter and Turner, preferably with experience in heavy machinery or truck-mounted EWPs.
  2. Proficiency in operating lathes, milling machines, and other precision machining tools.
  3. Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hydraulic systems and components.
  4. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
  5. High attention to detail and commitment to precision in fitting and assembly work.
  6. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  7. Trade certification in fitting and turning or mechanical engineering is required.
  8. Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  9. Physical stamina and dexterity to handle heavy equipment and work in various conditions.
