Job Description

As a dedicated professional, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the welfare and well-being of Aboriginal children.

This Identified position is open exclusively to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons. You will work sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children or young people to help them care for their children and develop safe, loving homes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with other agencies to address complex problems and make decisions that support the best interests of children.
  • Develop and implement safety plans and conduct risk assessments to ensure the protection of vulnerable children.
  • Work with families to formulate goals that address safety and wellbeing, including home visits and provision of support services.
  • Manage cases involving high needs and high-risk clients and their families.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision to reflect on practice and improve outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A relevant diploma or degree qualification is preferred, although applicants without a relevant qualification may be considered if they have at least two years' experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships through excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A valid driver's licence and paid working with children clearance number are also required.
  • Documented verification of Aboriginality confirming your status as an Aboriginal person is essential.

The salary range for this position is $87,315 - $113,562 per year, plus superannuation and annual leave loading.
