Employment Relations Specialist

About the Role

As an Employment Relations Specialist, you will form strategic partnerships with business units and P&C Business Partners to provide expert employment relations advice. Key responsibilities include providing guidance on industrial instruments, employment arrangements, performance management, misconduct, personal illness, discrimination, sexual harassment, victimisation, and bullying. The role also involves supporting employees and management to settle disputes and workplace grievances through internal investigations or early resolution meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide employment relations advice to P&C Team, line and senior management
  • Support employees and management to settle employee disputes and workplace grievances
  • Support the resolution of individual workplace relations issues through advice on workplace policies and related employment obligations
  • Draft and advise on employment contracts from appointment to disciplinary processes
  • Participate in FWC conciliation/mediations, including applications for unfair dismissal and adverse action
  • Manage discrimination complaints made to the Australian Human Rights Commission and State Anti-Discrimination Bodies
  • Draft deeds of release and settlement agreements
  • Develop and review IR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation changes
  • Prepare board reports and other reports on relevant matters
  • Lead and coach P&C Business Partners and business leaders to manage ER matters

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in employment law
  • Experience working in a commercial environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Employment Law, Fair Work Act, and ER procedures and processes
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and tenacity to think creatively
  • Effective time management skills and ability to manage multiple cases and priorities
  • Skilled communicator capable of engaging with various stakeholders
