As a Public Health Specialist, you will contribute to our mission by providing culturally-responsive services and fostering a respectful collegiate environment. You will be passionate about public health, social justice, and harm reduction, and thrive in a non-traditional public health setting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring areas for signs of high-risk substance use and retrieving discarded equipment.
- Assessing clients at risk of overdose or other signs of high-level substance use.
- Providing information, referrals, and general health and wellbeing services using harm reduction principles and practice.
You will need to have a Cert IV AOD/4 Core Competencies minimum or other relevant qualification, as well as experience working with marginalized people who inject drugs in health and/or community settings.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, including strong boundaries, conflict resolution, and negotiation, and the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Please note that evidence of mandatory immunizations/vaccinations is required prior to commencement of employment.
