Be an integral part of our team as a Public Health Specialist, contribute to the success of the organisation by ensuring effective environmental health practices are in place. Key responsibilities include:

Environmental risk identification and control

Educative and advisory role in respect of all aspects affecting public health.

Research and preparation of written communications and reports for presentation to management and other authorities.

Policing and enforcement of legislative requirements in relation to infectious disease, food safety and environmental health.

Initiation and management of departmental programs as approved and necessary.

Staff training and development.

Contribution to team initiatives and facilitation of collaboration.

Performance of other duties commensurate with skills and abilities as directed from time to time.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Degree in Applied Science (Public Health) or equivalent qualification as approved by relevant industry bodies.
  • Experience delivering public health services within local government settings.
  • High level communication skills, including problem solving and staff training ability.
  • Able to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities within a professional team environment.
  • Well-developed computer skills with experience in specific public health software and Microsoft Office Package.
  • Organisational skills, including planning and prioritisation.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Current Victorian driver's licence.
  • Previous experience working in public health sector.
  • Familiarity with Proclaim Systems.

To be successful in this role, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident and be able to complete a police check.
