Job Title: Genomics Specialist

About the Role:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Genomics Specialist to join our team.

About Us:

We are a leading provider of diagnostic services, shaping the future of healthcare.

This role plays a key part in delivering NSW state-wide pathogen genomics services, working closely with bioinformaticians, genomic epidemiologists, laboratory scientists and clinicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and update bioinformatics tools and pipelines as necessary.
  • Manage multiple projects under supervision from senior professionals and in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Provide expert analysis to inform project development and implementation.
  • Postgraduate degree in Science or Engineering in informatics or genomics or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in organising and delivering complex projects.

Requirements:

  • Proven proficiency in open source bioinformatics packages for genomic data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases.
  • Multi-dimensional data analysis or visualisation skills.
  • Ability to manage project scope, monitor progress and quality, identify risks and provide advice.
  • Strong strategic, organisational and planning skills.
