About the Role

The Family Led Decision Making Specialist will play a pivotal role in delivering an effective and culturally strong FLDM service to reduce the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the child protection system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families that come into contact with the Child Protection system.
  • Provide high-quality case management practices and meet case performance targets.
  • Empower families through targeted interventions to have improved meaningful involvement in Child Protection decisions.
  • Lead the direct integration with the Family Support System and internal ATSICHS services.

Requirements
  • Current Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention or Criminology with 4 years' relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support or related field.
  • Or current Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, Child and Family Intervention with 5 years' relevant experience in family support, child protection, youth support or related field.
  • At least 3 years of abovementioned experience in a case management role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Brief intervention counselling skills.
  • Previous experience in a family support and or advocacy role.
