Terminal Operations Coordinator Role

The role of Terminal Operations Coordinator plays a critical part in coordinating terminal operations, developing strong relationships with industry partners, and providing exceptional customer service to landside and quayside stakeholders.

This position involves alternating weeks of morning and afternoon shifts, Monday through Friday, ensuring support across the day's operational span.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for landside inquiries and develop effective relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and implement strategies to achieve this goal.

Operational Resourcing & Planning:

  • Coordinate the receipt and delivery of containers, including fulls and empties.
  • Calculate required slot release numbers and import/export ratios to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Review and approve stack run and bulk run requests to ensure smooth terminal operations.
  • Plan daily resource requirements, balancing operational goals with customer demand.
  • Identify opportunities for productivity gains and cost reduction to improve overall performance.

Billings & Claims:

  • Administer financial penalties and recommend adjustments when warranted to maintain fairness and equity.
  • Liaise with claims teams regarding truck damage investigations to resolve issues efficiently.

Reporting & Data Entry:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer databases, including company profile, structure, contact details, and history.
  • Review compliance with relevant policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in transport, rail, maritime, marine, or stevedoring operations.
  • Effective customer service, communication, planning, and organizational skills to excel in this role.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • High attention to detail and ability to rectify errors efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage workloads, work autonomously, or as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and bodies.
