The Melbourne Sports Institute (MSI) is partnering with St Michael's Grammar School to provide coaching resources to students. As an Academic and Operational Coach, you will support the key operations function for the School by providing academic coaching and supervision to students before, during, and after school.

The role contributes to the teaching, learning, and caring of students at St Michael's and involves direct or indirect involvement in optimizing outcomes for students in a safe, secure, and positive environment.

The Melbourne Sports Institute will drive and facilitate this initiative, working diligently behind the scenes to enrich and optimize the Academic Coach program for St Michael's Grammar School.

The role involves casual shifts over the course of the school day, with key responsibilities varying based on the time of day. These typically include:

  • Monitoring student engagement and behavior, relating to safety, wellbeing, uniform, readiness to learn, and alignment with St Michael's Grammar School values
  • Providing educational and academic coaching, advice, mentoring, and support to students on issues related to their studies
  • Reporting issues around the grounds to relevant parties to be rectified, e.g., potential hazards, damage

  • Achieved >80 ATAR score with exceptional results in English, Maths, Humanities, and Science subjects
  • Currently studying for a tertiary qualification, e.g., education, commerce, or business
  • Anaphylaxis qualification Asthma Management qualification is preferred
  • Level II First Aid Certificate is preferred
  • Employee Working with Children Check
  • National Police History Check (obtained within the last 6 months)

As a valued member of the MSI team, you will be employed by MSI and will be expected to satisfy child protection screening and adhere to the St Michael's Grammar School's Child Safe Policy and Code of Conduct.

Academic Coaches engaged by MSI to provide services at St Michael's must:

  • Always demonstrate and ensure compliance with the School's Child Safety Policy and Child Safety Code of Conduct and complete regular training in Child Safety standards
  • Promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people to whom we provide services
  • Ensure that your interactions with children and young people are positive and safe
  • Provide adequate care and supervision of children and young people in your charge
  • Act as a positive role model for children and young people
