We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to join our team on a Full-Time basis at RAAF Williams defence base in Laverton, located in the Western suburbs of Melbourne.
As a Head Chef, you will be responsible for managing the overall back of house operations and personnel involved in the production and delivery of food service, including routine meals, in-flight rations, fresh field rations, and Mess functions.
Your previous hospitality experience, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn will hold you in good stead. This is a hands-on role where you will be required to work in the kitchen as well as undertaking administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee a team of 6 chefs and a kitchen hand
- Operate large-volume cooking equipment
- Manage corporate functions
- Cost/budget management
- Internal and external stakeholder management
- Be flexible and help the whole team
- Commercial Cookery Certificate III, or above (or equivalent)
- Experience in a large commercial kitchen
- Ability to work well both within a team and on own initiative
- Ability to adapt to changing demands to meet needs, especially at busy times
- Able to think on feet and act quickly upon instruction
- Great attitude towards work and a willingness to learn the role and environment quickly
