The Electorate Officer is a critical role that requires strong communication and administrative skills.

Job Description

This position involves working in a fast-paced office environment, assisting the Member of Parliament with various tasks and responding to constituents.

You will be responsible for managing the office, including Assistant Electorate Officers, and reporting directly to the Member.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the Member's values and agenda, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Confidentiality and discretion are essential in this role, as you will be dealing with sensitive information on behalf of the Member.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and typing/word processing skills.
  • Intermediate level PC housekeeping skills, including formatting storage media, backups, and data archiving/deletion.
  • Able to learn and use sophisticated database systems.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexible and able to perform duties with minimal supervision and assistance.
  • Prioritization skills to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and liaise with various stakeholders.
  • General knowledge, particularly in Queensland politics and current affairs.
Benefits

Electorate Officers are employed by the Queensland Parliamentary Service and typically commence at Level 1.

Incremental pay is based on continuous service, and consideration may be given for higher-level salary based on individual criteria.
