About the Role

The ideal applicant will be a high-calibre educational leader with a contemporary leadership style focused on collegial engagement, collaboration and innovation to foster continuous improvement throughout the faculty.

As the Head of Home Economics and Visual Arts, you will have responsibility for leading the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.

You will lead strategic directions within the Home Economics/Visual Arts faculty, aligned to the school's Annual Improvement Plan and focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students. This includes:

  • Developing and implementing strategic actions through influencing, delegation and teams;
  • Implementing the Australian Curriculum for Years 7 to 10, including unit preparation, assessment, reporting and moderation;
  • Direction and oversight of class practices, including planning, delivery and assessment;
  • Setting high standards for student and staff performance, including leadership and management of teachers, learning support staff and teacher aides;
  • Understanding and communicating legislation and policies that impact schooling, with a strong focus on Safety, CARA and Excursion responsibilities;
  • Embedding socially just practices in daily school life;
  • Actively participating in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development;
  • Forming partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups;
  • Being futures oriented and strategic; and
  • Managing human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
