About the Role

This position involves working as a specialist in domestic and family violence support. The successful candidate will provide trauma-informed care to clients, utilizing developmentally appropriate approaches.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct intake, risk assessments, and safety planning for women and children affected by domestic and family violence.
  • Deliver individual counselling and psychoeducation for women, promoting empowerment and healing.
  • Offer court support for clients navigating DFV-related legal systems, ensuring their rights are upheld.
  • Support women through advocacy, referral pathways, safety upgrades, and practical assistance, addressing their diverse needs.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, including Child Safety, Police, Corrections, and Housing, to ensure a coordinated response.
Key Requirements
  • Minimum two years of experience in DFV counselling, risk assessment, court support, and group work.
  • Demonstrated understanding of gendered violence, the DFV Act, Child Protection Act, and Family Law Act.
  • A well-developed practice framework that aligns with trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.
  • Experience supporting diverse families with complex needs, fostering resilience and stability.
  • Strong skills in report writing, case notes, data entry, and professional communication, ensuring seamless collaboration.
  • A calm, resilient presence in high-pressure situations, providing emotional support to clients.
