We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to join our team as a Strategic Delivery Excellence Director. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of technology delivery at Telstra, driving innovation and excellence across our global operations.

Job Description

As a Strategic Delivery Excellence Director, you will be responsible for leading the adoption and improvement of fit-for-purpose delivery systems, practices, and behaviours across Software Engineering & IT Delivery and Operating Model. You will ensure agile principles and practices are implemented and embedded across the organisation to enable the design and delivery of customer-centric solutions at faster speed and higher quality.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Aligning strategic vision with Chapter Area Leads, inspiring teams with realistic yet ambitious goals.
  • Collaborating with global CoE and Chapter members to set best practice standards and mature Agile/DevOps team performance.
  • Managing CoE resource allocation, including recruitment and selection, to ensure required capabilities are available and mitigate resourcing issues.
  • Leading software engineering strategy, defining software development standards, and designing innovative end-to-end architectural solutions across multiple domains.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated expertise in large-scale program delivery, with a track record of successfully leading diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Project and Program Management tools and practices (e.g., Jira, Microsoft Project) and a willingness to adapt and learn new technologies.
  • Advanced Agile Framework Proficiency – extensive expertise in Agile methodologies, including SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and DevOps, and a commitment to promoting a collaborative and inclusive Agile environment.
  • Extensive experience in Engineering and a well-rounded IT generalist background. Experience in automation scripting is highly desirable but not mandatory; we value a diverse range of technical skills.
