About the Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Peer Support Specialist. This role is ideal for someone with lived experience of recovery from addiction and a strong desire to support others in their journey towards wellness.

As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in connecting with clients, providing emotional support, and empowering them to achieve their goals. You will be part of a collaborative team that values diversity, inclusivity, and mutual respect.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Acting as a first point of contact for clients, providing empathy and understanding in a non-judgmental environment
    • Working closely with clients to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and developing personalized plans to support their progress
    • Facilitating group sessions and workshops, promoting education and awareness about addiction and recovery
    • Maintaining accurate records of client interactions and service delivery using our online management system

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have personal experience of recovery from addiction, be able to reflect on your own experiences, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should also be willing to promote a culture of respect, dignity, and empowerment among clients and colleagues alike.

  • You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines
  • Solid problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are essential, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team
