We are currently seeking a skilled Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team in Sutherland Sydney. As a Behaviour Support Practitioner at Ability Action Australia, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality support to NDIS participants living in Caringbah and surrounding suburbs.

Job Description

As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, your primary responsibility will be to assist NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning.

  • Evaluating and Developing Support Plans: You will evaluate, develop, and deliver evidence-based support plans within a complex support space, ensuring that individual plans reflect NDIS participants' goals, passions, and strengths.
  • Building Knowledge and Capacity: You will work collaboratively with family members, carers, and other stakeholders to build their knowledge, capacity, and strengths in supporting participants.
  • Acting as an Advocate and Role Model: You will act as an advocate and role model for best practice, promoting a positive behaviour support framework and eliminating restrictive practices.

About the Role

This is a part-time position (minimum 20 hours per week) available for immediate start. The successful candidate will have:

  • Current suitability at the Core or Proficient level as a Behaviour Support Practitioner, confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission;
  • A degree-level qualification as an allied health professional;
  • Report writing experience;
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload;
  • A proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas;
  • Genuine passion for working in the disability sector.
