About the Role

The Group Privacy & Customer Trust Team operates as a central unit that sets the strategy for, and drives privacy and responsible data use uplift across, our organization. This includes governance of privacy risk, PIAs, governance, training and awareness, data ethics, incident management, resource development, compliance and reporting, evaluation and enhancements.

The Privacy Lead is an integral member of the Group Privacy & Customer Trust Team and delivers privacy and customer trust solutions as a business unit functions across the organization. Critical to this role is building stakeholder relationships within the business unit and across other relevant areas.

The scope of the role includes:

  • Setting and delivering on the strategy and direction for privacy and customer trust aligned to, and with the support of, the Group Privacy & Customer Trust Team
  • Delivering key foundational and strategic priorities that evolve our Privacy & Customer Trust maturity to realise our ambition as a privacy leader
  • Best practice systems and processes to enhance privacy governance including execution of PIAs, Incident Management, Data Governance, Privacy Risk and Policy Development initiatives & resources across the various business units
  • Recommend, develop and support best practice in conjunction with Legal teams to manage change as a result of changing privacy legislation and regulations
  • Build and develop relationships with key senior stakeholders across the business unit and other relevant areas to influence and implement effective privacy & data ethics capability
  • Provide thought leadership and dissemination of information as an expert in the field
  • Represent the Group Privacy & Customer Trust Team at relevant governance forums, chapters, councils and committees

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced privacy professional with a broad skill set and knowledge of Privacy, Ethics, Risk and Legal and how these impact on business priorities and objectives.

This role will be embedded into the business unit to deliver privacy solutions under the strategic direction and as a member of the Privacy & Customer Trust Team.

Key requirements include:

  • 5-10 years experience in Privacy or a related field
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field including Business, Law, Technology, Privacy or related
  • Proficient knowledge of Privacy Act, Australian Privacy Principles, OAIC guidance
  • Experience in PIA methodologies and privacy by design
  • Risk Management
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Strategy Development
  • Management and Leadership experience
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills including presentations
  • IAPP certification or other related studies in privacy, governance, ethics
