Job Title:

Mental Health Employment Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Mental Health Employment Specialist to join our team. As an integral part of our service, you will play a key role in empowering individuals with mental health conditions to achieve their employment goals.

This is a unique opportunity to work within an evidence-based service, making a lasting impact on the lives of our participants. You will be responsible for managing a caseload of participants and providing tailored, person-centred support to help them secure meaningful and sustainable employment.

Our service is built on the principles of inclusivity and diversity, and we strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, People with Lived Experience of Mental Health, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities, LGBTQIA+ Individuals, and Working Parents.

About the Role

As a Mental Health Employment Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to deliver services using the Individual Placement & Support (IPS) Model. This model is widely regarded as the most effective approach to employment for people with mental illness.

You will work closely with our participants to identify their strengths, skills, and career aspirations. Through a supportive and non-judgmental approach, you will help them develop the confidence and skills needed to secure and maintain employment.

Your role will also involve building strong partnerships with local employers to create inclusive job opportunities. You will strive to exceed individual and team performance targets, delivering sustainable employment outcomes and contributing to the overall success of the service.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering vocational profiling, job search, resume and interview preparation, placement, post-placement support, and ongoing support to participants.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with local employers to promote inclusive job opportunities.
  • Collaborating with NDIS and community providers to ensure wrap-around supports for participants' wellbeing.
  • Monitoring outcomes and keeping accurate records to contribute to continuous improvement in service delivery.

What We Need From You

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess relevant experience in employment services, mental health support, or disability services. A Certificate III or higher qualification in a related field will also be highly regarded.

You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with participants, their supports, and employers. Business development skills and local employer connections will also be advantageous.

A current driver's licence and your own vehicle will be required for travel to meet with participants and employers. You will also need to obtain all required clearances, including a Police Check and NDIS clearance.

How to Apply

If you are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with mental health conditions, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application, highlighting your relevant experience and qualifications.

We look forward to welcoming a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Employment Specialist to our team
