Biomedical Engineer

The role of biomedical engineer involves providing technical expertise to support the management of healthcare technology assets. This includes designing, analyzing, testing, installing, commissioning, investigating, and troubleshooting health technology systems and associated biomedical ICT infrastructure.

This position requires a strong background in engineering, with experience in asset management, system design, and integration. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and provide guidance and education to others.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement technical specifications for healthcare technology systems and equipment
  • Conduct technical and performance assessments of equipment to ensure compliance with specifications and relevant safety standards
  • Participate in incident investigations, downtime analysis, vulnerability, and hazard alert responses, as well as patient-safety / quality improvement related activities
Requirements:
  • A minimum of a four-year Bachelor's degree qualification in Engineering as recognized by Engineers Australia
  • Registration as an RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland)
  • A C class driver's license is required for general duties, including driving Queensland Health vehicles
  • Graduate level knowledge, expertise, and skill in biomedical engineering or a related engineering field
  • Ability to apply engineering principles and critical analysis to complete projects and deliver services
  • High level of interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and communication
  • Ability to provide guidance and education to others
