A high-performing local council in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne is seeking a skilled Coordinator Statutory Planning to lead their team and drive strategic planning initiatives.

Job Summary

  • We are looking for an experienced Coordinator Statutory Planning to join our team, driving strategic planning initiatives and ensuring responsive service delivery.

About the Role

  • The successful candidate will coordinate the Statutory Planning Branch, leading a team of 3 planners and managing a caseload of complex planning applications.
  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Management: Coordinate statutory planning services, inform the Manager Statutory Planning of progress, and represent the Manager on various committees.
    • Planning and Policy: Contribute to strategic and operational plans, review systems and processes, and ensure flexible and responsive service delivery.
    • Planning Permit Applications and Related Matters: Assess and determine complex planning permit applications pursuant to the Planning and Environment Act 1987.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in Team leader/Coordinator roles, with a strong understanding of statutory planning principles and practices.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading teams and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions and provide recommendations.
