Environmental Health Specialist Role

This position is responsible for supporting environmental health programs, including surveillance of retail food premises and public health facilities. Key responsibilities include assisting with on-site wastewater management inspections and referral assessments for development applications.

The ideal candidate will have a degree-level qualification in Environmental Health or a related field, along with three years of experience in environmental health and inspections within a local government setting.

Essential Qualifications
  • Degree-level qualification in Environmental Health or a related field.
  • Three years' experience in environmental health and inspections within a local government setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Environment Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Local Government Act 1993, Food Act 2003, Public Health Act 2010, and Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise, negotiate, and mediate with internal and external stakeholders.
